Growing up in the kitchen with my one of my Grandma’s, I vividly remember her measuring out a recipe by her hands instead of a measuring cup. She didn’t always follow the directions either. Sometimes it was a little of this and a little of that. That is often how I cook today. When I make spaghetti sauce in my house, which is always a crowd pleaser among 4 little hungry mouths, it never taste that same twice. And when I’m feeling really crazy, it’s Great Value to the rescue!

That was how my faith foundation was growing up. A little of this and a little of that. I had many outside influences but no true foundation that was followed. In fact, I spent most of my late teen/early twenties as a professing Atheist. It seemed completely illogical to me that millions of people would believe a book written by someone they had never met. In 2014 when I found Christ, I was already 2 kids deep and started with a burning desire to get to know God, make up for lost time and make sure if I was going to raise my children to know God, I was doing it right.

What I have learned and continue to learn from incredible mentors through their discipling and Apologetics, I am hoping to pass along here at God Shaped Mom. I am not an Apologetics pro and in fact, will openly admit there is much more I don’t know than I do, however, it’s that fire that continues burn deep inside that gives me the drive to dig deep and learn. Apologetics comes from the greek word apologia which means a ‘defense’ or ‘answer’. 1 Peter 3:15 tells us to always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.

We live in a crazy world and I want to prepare my kids to be able to fully and confidently give an answer for what they believe in as they navigate public schools and this secular world we live in. I don’t want to give my kids the Walmart Great Value version of faith. I want to, with the help of the Holy Spirit grow, learn, educate, be educated, encourage and invite other moms wanting to stand up and fight along side their kids teaching them practical ways to confidently know that their faith is real and our God is true to His Word.
